Of the 6,497 non-hostile injuries suffered in Iraq through Oct. 29, 3,897 were suffered by active-duty soldiers, while 2,600 were suffered by reserves.
Among the non-hostile injuries or illnesses, according to the Defense Department: 14% required surgery; 12% were psychiatric; 10% were neurological; 7% were gynecological; 7% were cardiac; 7% were urological; 6% were gastroenterological; and 37% were labeled "assorted other," which could include accidents, heat stroke and other injuries.
